IP Address Request

The UCSB Materials Department has adopted the following computing and network security policy in an effort to ensure the security and appropriate use of all computing and network resources. The Department authorizes the computer support staff to restrict computer/network access to any individual or computer if any of the following conditions are met: Copyrighted materials are being illegally distributed over Materials networks. The University of California is committed to upholding the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). A computer is found to be running unlicensed software. Please note that it is the responsibility of the computer user/users to provide proof that all software has appropriate licensing. Excessive network bandwidth is inhibiting the use of network services by other computers. A computer is found to be using an unregistered or unassigned IP address. A computer has not met the security guidelines outlined in the following URL. Windows Security Guidelines Mac OS X Security Guidlines UCSB's Office of Information Technology (OIT) requests such action. A User removes any Computer/Printer/Network Equipment from its physical location within the Department that was purchased with UCSB funds. Equipment removed from the Department for use in an Off-Campus Location must be authorized and documented. In addition to the above criteria, each computer shall have an administrative account for use by the computer support staff in the event of an external intrusion, or suspected infringement of the department's computer/network use policy.
