Out of State Students should establish residency by the beginning of their second year.
This does not apply to International Students or current California Residents.
For students who started the program in Fall 2025, Important UCOP Deadlines are:
- Establish Physical Presence – 9/23/2025
- Deadline to Acquire Intent – 12/15/2025
- Residence Determination – 9/24/2026
- File In-State California Taxes as a resident – by April 2026
For students who started the program in Fall 2026, Important UCOP Deadlines are:
- Establish Physical Presence – 9/22/2026
- Deadline to Acquire Intent – 12/15/2026
- Residence Determination – 9/23/2027
- File In-State California Taxes as a resident – by April 2027
Mandatory Things to Do:
- California Driver’s License or ID Card – ASAP
- California Vehicle Registration – ASAP
- California Voter Registration – ASAP
