Research is in on mechanics of materials, exploiting theoretical and computational methods to understand structural and functional performance of engineering materials. Recent focus has been on ferroelectric systems, utilization of high temperature materials composed of ceramics and ceramic composites, actuating and shape morphing structures, protection of structures from high intensity blast waves and accompanying shrapnel, and thermal barrier coatings for gas turbine blades.
