- Protect every account on your Mac OS X system with a good, cryptic password.
- Leave the 'root' account disabled. It is disabled by default and there is almost no reason to enable it.
- Do not enable network services (ssh, ftp, file sharing, etc.) unless necessary.
- Run personal firewall software. BrickHouse is very nice shareware and can be downloaded from:
- Update software regularly with the Software Update feature.
