  1. Protect every account on your Mac OS X system with a good, cryptic password.
  2. Leave the 'root' account disabled. It is disabled by default and there is almost no reason to enable it.
  3. Do not enable network services (ssh, ftp, file sharing, etc.) unless necessary.
